A major emphasis is on creating new "connections" between neurons by social and human interactions which takes us away from set routines.
They advice to create additional "brain cell activity" using various exercises that which can help generate chemicals and hormones necessary to keep brain cells healthy and may even generate new cells.
We find that our ancient ways of living and praying automatically involves many of these activites in our day to day life.

Hazards of reusing cooking oil
Heating of oil to deep frying temperature can laed to degeneration of oil molecules. many believe that this is a major source for saturated fat (which in turn increases bad cholesterol)
It is common for most hotels and restaurants to reuse the oil left over from deep frying of food. cost saving and convenience of handling can be the reason for this. fortunately they consume a lot of oil and it is hoped that most oil gets burned off or gets absorbed in food before it becomes a health hazard.
The problem is different at home. cost is of course a consideration for most households and any suggestion for using oil only once is bound to be rejected by most housewives.
also it is quite uncommon for normal house hold to deep fry daily , so chances are that the oil will not get reused for many weeks . the problem of reusing oil gets worse when the same is stored for extended periods.
so hear are some suggestions to keep in mind if you choose to reuse cooking oil
1. as soon as oil cools to room temperature, filter it using coffee filter (multiple layers of paper) to remove any food particle that is floating in oil . this will avoid bacteria being formed on these food particles .
2. do not mix this oil with fresh oil . store this oil in a separate label the date on which this oil is first used and try and use it within a few

શરદી માટે કેસર, તુલસી અને આદુ
શરદી થાય અને નાક વહેતું હોય તો તે માટે નીચેના ઉપાય અજમાવો
1. એક ચમચી દૂધ થોડું ગરમ કરો . કેસર ને તે હુંફાળું દૂધ માં લસોટી ( કેસર ના તાંતણ આ ને હાથેથી દૂધમાં ભેળવી ) દેવા અને એ દૂધ કપાળપર લગાડી ને 5 મિનીટ રાખી મુકવા થી આરામ થશે .
2 એક કપ માં 100 M L પાણી માં તુલસી ના 2-3 પાંદડા નાખો . તેમાં થોડું આદુ છીણી ને મિક્ષ કરો . પછી તે પાણી ને ઉકાળો . જ્યાં સુધી પાણી અડધું થાય ત્યાં સુધી ઉકાળો . પાણી ને ઠંડુ થવા દો . પછી તેમાં એક ચમચી મધ નાખો અને તેમાંથી અડધું સવારે અને અડધું સાંજે પીવા થી 2-3 દિવસ માં સારું થાય છે .

Looking to stay cool this summer? You might want to stay out of the water. According to a new survey by the Water Quality and Health Council, one in five Americans admits to urinating in public pools — and that's just the beginning of the "nasty germs" lurking below the surface. Here's what you need to know before diving in:
What germs are in there?
Seven out of 10 swimmers reportedly don't rinse off or shower before jumping in the pool, making for a potent stew of other people's sweat, cosmetics, feces, and other dirty stuff. Harmful germs ranging from Giardia, E. coli, and cryptosporidium parasites have all been shown to spread in public pools. All three are known to cause everything from diarrhea to dehydration to vomiting.

But doesn't chlorine kill all the bad stuff?Only to a point. (Too much chlorine is bad for you,
anyway.) And contrary to popular belief, it isn't chlorine itself that
irritates eyes: It's when chlorine comes into contact with high levels
of contaminants that swimmers experience eye redness and the water
begins emitting a "strong chemical smell," says Michele Hlvasa, chief of the CDC's Healthy Swimming Program. An ideal swimming pool
should be odorless, as chlorine only really smells when it's
interacting with contaminants. If the chlorine is pungent, you might
want to cool off elsewhere.
So... what should I do before wading in?"It may seem
counterintuitive, but it's important to shower before you jump in the
pool to help keep swimming healthy for everyone," Dr. Chris Wiant, chair
of the Water Quality and Health Council, tells CNN. Indeed, "not showering before swimming is equivalent to recycling bath water," says Paul Friswold at Daily RFT.

This may sound shocking bu an article in news paper claims that if
you're taking a refreshing dip in a pool with four other people, odds
are one of you is urinating. This is not gross-out myth, but cold,
depressing fact from a scientific research group sponsored by the American Chemistry Council.
The survey, conducted in April, asked nearly 1,000 adults whether they
urinate in pools. One in five bravely admitted their mistakes. And those
are the ones who admitted it.

પહેલું સુખ તે જાતે નર્યા
આ કહેવતમાં શરીરને તંદુરસ્ત રાખવાની વાતને મહત્વ આપવામાં આવ્યું છે. શરીરના આરોગ્યની જાળવણી માટે કેટલીક વાતો ટૂંકી કવિતા કે પંક્તિરૂપે અને યાદ રહી જાય તે સ્વરૂપમાં રચવામાં આવતી અને તે દરેક જુની પેઢી તેની નવી પેઢીને આપ્યા કરતી.
નાનપણમાં મારી ‘બા’ પાસેથી આવી અનેક કંડિકાઓ સાંભળી છે. એટલી બધી વાર સાંભળી છે કે કંઠસ્થ તો થઈ જ ગઈ છે. સાથે લોહી માં પણ ઉતરી ગઈછે .
આ પંક્તિઓમાં આરોગ્ય અંગેની જે ધારદાર વાતો કરવામાં આવી છે તે અહીં યથાતથ મુકવી છે.
‘મગ કહે હું લીલો દાણો, મારા ઉપર ચાંદું, નિત્ય સેવન મારું કરતો માણસ ઉઠાડું માંદું.
‘ ‘તાવ કહે તુરિયામાં વસું, ગલકા દેખી ખડખડ હસું, ખાય દહીં-મૂળો ને ખાટી છાશ તેને ઘેર મારો વાસ.’
‘ ‘લીમડા દાતણ જે કરે, નરણે હરડે ખાય,દૂધે વાળું જે કરે તે ઘર વૈદ ન જાય.
‘ ‘આંખે ત્રિફલા દાંતે લૂણ, પેટ ન ભરીએ ચારે ખૂણ.’
‘ ‘દૂધી કહે હું લાંબી લિસ્સી, દિલ મારું છે છાલ, સ્વાદ ને બળ લાવવા, નાખ ચણાની દાળ.’
‘ ‘મધ સ્વાદે મિષ્ટ પણ ખાવું નહીં ઘણું,વીસ ગ્રામ બાળકને અને પુખ્તવયનાને બમણું.’
‘ ‘ફૂદીનો સુંગધીદારને રુચિકર પણ ઘણો,કફનાશક ને વળી કામનાશક પણ ઘણો.’
‘ ‘વરિયાળી મુખવાસ કે ભૂખ જરા હળવાશ,કફનાશક ગરમ કોઠા મહી આશિષ સમી છે એ.’
‘ ‘કૂણી કૂણી કાકડી ને ભાદરવાની છાશ,તાવ સંદેશો મોકલે આજ આવું કે કાલ.’
‘ ‘આંબલિમાં ગુણ એક છે, અવગુણ પૂરા વીસ,લીંબુમાં અવગુણ એક નહીં, ગુણ છે પૂરા વીસ.’
‘ ‘મરડો માઠો રોગ, ઘણી વેદના થાય,હરડે-સાકર ચૂર્ણની પાંચ ફાકીએ જાય.’
‘ ‘જંતુનાશક ફટકડી, રસનાયિક ગુણવાન,સ્વાદે તૂરી હોય છે, કમ દામ ને મૂલ્યવાન.’
‘ ‘બલિહારી તુજ બાજરી જીના લાંબાં પાન, પાંખું આવીયું, બુઢા થયા જવાન.’
‘ ‘રાતે વહેલા જે સૂએ વહેલા ઊઠે વીર,બલ બુદ્ધિ અને ધન વધે, સુખમાં રહે શરીર.’
‘ ‘ચા-કોફી ને કોકો વહેલી પડાવે પોકો,ના સમજે તેને રોકો, જરૂર પડે તો ટોકો.’

ઉપરની ૧૭ કંડિકાઓમાં આખુંય આરોગ્ય વિજ્ઞાન સમાઈ જાય છે. હકીકતમાં તો આપણને આપણા રસોડામાં જે દાળ-કઠોળ ઉપલબ્ધ છે તેની ઉચ્ચ ગુણવત્તાની સાચી માહિતી જ નથી. નાનપણમાં બા બટેટાનું છાલવાળું શાક કરતી અને કહેતી કે બટેટું જે નુકસાન કરે તે તેની છાલ નિમૂgળ કરે.મગની ફોતરા વગરની દાળની ગુણવત્તાની તો શું વાત કરવી? આવી દાળનો એક વાટકો પીઓ તો એક ઈંડાંમાંથી જેટલી તાકાત મળે એટલી તાકાત આ દાળમાંથી મળે. દાંત માટે મીઠાનો ઉપયોગ એ રામબાણ ઉપાય છે.

આ કહેવતમાં શરીરને તંદુરસ્ત રાખવાની વાતને મહત્વ આપવામાં આવ્યું છે. શરીરના આરોગ્યની જાળવણી માટે કેટલીક વાતો ટૂંકી કવિતા કે પંક્તિરૂપે અને યાદ રહી જાય તે સ્વરૂપમાં રચવામાં આવતી અને તે દરેક જુની પેઢી તેની નવી પેઢીને આપ્યા કરતી.
નાનપણમાં મારી ‘બા’ પાસેથી આવી અનેક કંડિકાઓ સાંભળી છે. એટલી બધી વાર સાંભળી છે કે કંઠસ્થ તો થઈ જ ગઈ છે. સાથે લોહી માં પણ ઉતરી ગઈછે .
આ પંક્તિઓમાં આરોગ્ય અંગેની જે ધારદાર વાતો કરવામાં આવી છે તે અહીં યથાતથ મુકવી છે.
‘મગ કહે હું લીલો દાણો, મારા ઉપર ચાંદું, નિત્ય સેવન મારું કરતો માણસ ઉઠાડું માંદું.
‘ ‘તાવ કહે તુરિયામાં વસું, ગલકા દેખી ખડખડ હસું, ખાય દહીં-મૂળો ને ખાટી છાશ તેને ઘેર મારો વાસ.’
‘ ‘લીમડા દાતણ જે કરે, નરણે હરડે ખાય,દૂધે વાળું જે કરે તે ઘર વૈદ ન જાય.
‘ ‘આંખે ત્રિફલા દાંતે લૂણ, પેટ ન ભરીએ ચારે ખૂણ.’
‘ ‘દૂધી કહે હું લાંબી લિસ્સી, દિલ મારું છે છાલ, સ્વાદ ને બળ લાવવા, નાખ ચણાની દાળ.’
‘ ‘મધ સ્વાદે મિષ્ટ પણ ખાવું નહીં ઘણું,વીસ ગ્રામ બાળકને અને પુખ્તવયનાને બમણું.’
‘ ‘ફૂદીનો સુંગધીદારને રુચિકર પણ ઘણો,કફનાશક ને વળી કામનાશક પણ ઘણો.’
‘ ‘વરિયાળી મુખવાસ કે ભૂખ જરા હળવાશ,કફનાશક ગરમ કોઠા મહી આશિષ સમી છે એ.’
‘ ‘કૂણી કૂણી કાકડી ને ભાદરવાની છાશ,તાવ સંદેશો મોકલે આજ આવું કે કાલ.’
‘ ‘આંબલિમાં ગુણ એક છે, અવગુણ પૂરા વીસ,લીંબુમાં અવગુણ એક નહીં, ગુણ છે પૂરા વીસ.’
‘ ‘મરડો માઠો રોગ, ઘણી વેદના થાય,હરડે-સાકર ચૂર્ણની પાંચ ફાકીએ જાય.’
‘ ‘જંતુનાશક ફટકડી, રસનાયિક ગુણવાન,સ્વાદે તૂરી હોય છે, કમ દામ ને મૂલ્યવાન.’
‘ ‘બલિહારી તુજ બાજરી જીના લાંબાં પાન, પાંખું આવીયું, બુઢા થયા જવાન.’
‘ ‘રાતે વહેલા જે સૂએ વહેલા ઊઠે વીર,બલ બુદ્ધિ અને ધન વધે, સુખમાં રહે શરીર.’
‘ ‘ચા-કોફી ને કોકો વહેલી પડાવે પોકો,ના સમજે તેને રોકો, જરૂર પડે તો ટોકો.’
‘ ‘પીળા રંગની રસોઈની હળદર,વાત-પિત્ત, કફ પર થાય દમદાર.’
‘ ‘ભોજન પહેલાં સદા પથ્ય આદુ લવણ-મિશ્રિત, લગાડે ભૂખ, રુચિ દે, દે કંઠ જીભે વિશુદ્ધતા.’
